Baby Monitors: A Great Investment.

monitor

Video baby monitors are a great tool to look after your child’s well being. If a baby is crying – parents can see and hear what is happening so they can rush over to solve the issue. It can be something simple such as hunger or in need of a diaper; or something more alarming, such as a fever, vomiting, or some kind of ailment. Monitors also give parents the liberty to do things around the house and not constantly hovering around the cradle.

The average price range of a monitor varies between $100-300 depending on your retailer. Below are links on places you can checkout different types of monitors and maybe you will find one worth investing in.

Top Toys for Tots

Good gift giving ideas for the next shower or b-day party.

As I have mentioned before, I am a mom of two little ones. So I have some experience in trial and error when it comes to toys.

In keeping with the theme of my previous blog about baby showers, my classmate Nam suggested to write about what good toys would work as good gifts. Which is a very wise suggestion. I remember when my first child was a bit younger I bought these expensive items that were not durable and just turned out to be a chew toy for my teething toddler. In lieu of that, I learned to start reading reviews or comments that other parents made so one can get more bang for your buck.

So the following suggestions are toys my children currently own and have endured the test of time, also, my kids learned something from of these toys which is always a plus.

1. Fisher-Price Elephant Doodler

This is a nifty little writing tablet that is very durable and has helped my daughter in honing in her motors skills. Works great also for playing tic tack toe in the car for those long road trips.

2. Fisher-Price Little People Disney Princess Songs Palace Play Set

This play Set is for a little princess. Snow White and Cinderella are included but the rest of the Disney characters can be bought separately. The neat thing about this toy is that the princesses can be inserted into a pod and their catchphrases and most notable song drum out of the speakers.

3. LeapFrog Learn & Groove™ Musical Table

This is one of my favorite baby shower gifts. It’s a toy that grows with your child. It can be laid on the floor or attach legs for a walking toddler. It also helps your little one learn their abcs and grow their love for music. It’s also unisex! So in can be handed down to little brother or sister.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Then
This blog was a bit nostalgic for me. I remember the day my father also put $2000 dollars towards buying a computer and expanding our education. The huge white boxes of whole punched paper for our new printer, and the frenzy my brother had to buy some Sierra games. It was a huge event that revolutionized out family.

I can completely relate in that way to this blog. Even though I did not dive into the programing aspect of it, my brothers surely did. This was great for me, since I had the Atari all to myself, and could play Popeye to my heart’s desire. We were all older children and my parents thought we were mature enough for a machine such as this.

Now
Times have changed, now I am amazed how easily my 18 month old took to his new iPad given by his grandfather this Christmas. It is outstanding how this type of technology has evolved and revolutionized life as we know it. Keeps me wondering what life will be like for the newer generations that seem to be born tech-savvy.

HERE COMES BABY… AND THE BABY SHOWER!!!

A blog to help the “mommy brain” pick out a shower theme.
By Mimi & Leo Creations

It is an exciting moment to find out that baby is on board. The anxiety of what is to come and happiness of expanding the family. As a mom myself, I had both a simple and complicated pregnancy. With everything that is going on in your body and trying to figure out the new hormonal emotions, it can become difficult to focus on the small details that come with a baby shower. So this is the mission of this blog. To include some ideas to help out the “mommy brain” in picking out themes for that special day to celebrate the new little person that will rule your world.

First think about your personality. If you’re traditional, religious, simplistic, nature lover, modern, or maybe a book worm. All of these traits can spin off into a creative baby shower theme. Here are some examples:

 1. The “Traditional”
The traditional baby shower theme is everything we commonly associate with baby. Things like diapers, stork, rattle, pacifier, baby bottle, and onesies. Which can be great if you still don’t know the sex of your child and want to maintain the mystery. But you can give it a creative spin by adding a vintage flare or playing with color.

 2. “Pretend Play”
With this theme you can let your imagination soar like your child will. It can range from ballerina, fireman, princess, cowgirl, or racecar driver. Just think of your own childhood and try to relate it to the party experience.

 3. “Book Worm”
This is one of my personal favorites. With great books such as “Cat in the Hat”, “Winnie the Pooh”,  “Alice in Wonderland”,  “Jungle Book” and “Pat the Bunny”. All of these wonderful worlds translate into cute and unique themes.

 4. “ Children’s Song”
With this theme you also have the ability to create a gender-neutral baby shower, with titles such as “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, “Itsy Bitsy Spider”, “Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” or the “Wheels on the Bus”.

 5. “Nature and Animals”
This has a large range. With a wide variety on animals, plants, or scenes, it gives the new mom a lot of elements to play with. Such as a beach theme, lumberjack, garden tea party, or eco-friendly shower. And with animals, it can be as simple as chicks, bunnies, butterflies, and teddy bears. Also a jungle theme, farm scene, or days at the zoo are also great idea.

 6. “Pattern and Color”
This can vary from the ultra chick and simple white, to crazy mod colors. Even traditional pinks and blues can be used, or gender-neutral greens and yellows.

Whatever theme you choose it will make for a wonderful shower. The key is to relax, enjoy, and don’t forget to pack a pair of flats!
